DIRECTOR’S CORNER
Happy Thanksgiving to all YD Members! Did you know that Thanksgiving is also a recognized Zomi holiday, known as “Zomi Thanksgiving Day”? You certainly observe Thanksgiving every year, but you might not be aware of the reasons why Zomi Americans do the same. Back in 2005, Zomi Christian Alliance (ZCA) came to a decision that we, Zomi, would observe and celebrate Thanksgiving every last week of the month of November. As of today, in 2022, it is the 18th year that we celebrate Zomi Thanksgiving Day. Zomi around the world celebrates with their churches or with local Zomi Fellowship Organizations.
According to the Zomi Daily News article “Zomi Thanksgiving Day Akibawlna Ahang Nam 10,” the ZCA came up with the following reasons.
Reason #1: Zomi are thankful for salvation through Jesus Christ.
Reason #2: Zomi are thankful for the hope of Heaven.
Reason #3 Zomi are thankful for God’s faithfulness.
Reason #4: Zomi are thankful for the love of God.
Reason #5: Zomi are thankful for the freedom to do what is right.
Reason #6: Zomi are thankful for the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
Reason #7: Zomi are thankful for the power of prayer and the power of praying people.
Reason #8: Zomi are thankful that God is always in control of everything.
Reason #9: Zomi are thankful for life.
Reason #10: Zomi are thankful that God has counted us worthy by putting us into the ministry.
As a YD member and in my year of assisting our Director, Sian Nuam, I would like to thank her for her sacrifices and her service to our organization. Please express your gratitude to her if you run into her in person or at meetings. We appreciate her leadership and taking on such a significant role. The YD Administration is also very grateful to all of the members who commit so much time to plan, discussing, and cooperating on YD projects. I believe we can all agree that “if it’s for YD, it’s for Zomi.” Happy Zomi Thanksgiving to you all YD families!
